Cisco Virtual Field Trip Teacher Badge

The Cisco Virtual Field Trip Teacher Badge is for a teacher that has scheduled and participated in a virtual field trip with a group of students. Educators will gain the following competencies which are aligned to ISTE Standards for Educators.

To Earn this Badge

Estimated time to complete, including Virtual Field Trip: 5 hours

  • Join the Virtual Field Trip Community (ISTE 1b)

  • Submit an Intent to Participate form to CILC.

  • Read over Webex Teams instructions here  and download the free Webex Teams App, then attend a Webex training (30 min) live workshop. CILC staff will work with you to schedule your live workshop at a time of your convenience. (ISTE 5c)

  • Review the Cisco Webex Privacy and Security FAQ for Webex use with minors

  • Use the CILC site to find, schedule, and attend a Virtual Field Trip to enhance classroom objectives (ISTE 1a,3b,4a,4c,5b)

  • Evaluate the content of a Virtual Field Trip through the CILC follow-up evaluation to share the experience and how the Virtual Field Trip impacted the curriculum (ISTE 6b)

  • Find one article (suggested beginning point here to find articles) to support the use of collaboration tools with students. Write a 200-300 word summary. (ISTE 1c)

  • Document the experience by creating a recording and a written artifact (200-300 words) of the experience. (ISTE 4a)  Here are some sample Topics for Video Recordings.

  • Submit artifacts of learning:

    • recording

    • written artifact documenting the Virtual Field Trip experience

    • professional article summary and link to article or digital copy of article

    • make sure that you provide a video release for yourself and any other individuals in your recording, including students. You may submit your district’s release form or submit the CILC Release.

  • Post a comment on the Virtual Field Trip Teacher Community about your field trip and follow-up with any comments generated. (ISTE 1b)
